Changes in Language Requirements – Poland

As of 1 July 2025, new changes to the rules for issuing visas to Poland and admission to universities have come into force. These changes apply to all universities in Poland. The said amendments have been implemented as a result of government policy and are not related to any activities of Polish universities.

Language proficiency requirements are defined in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 30 July 2025 on the types of documents confirming the knowledge of the language of instruction in higher education (Journal of Laws 2025, item 1045)

Taking the above into account, below we present only those changes that concern language certificates and that entered into force on 1 July 2025. Information on other decisions and changes has been shared separately, as appropriate.

1. Higher education diploma with instruction in English
A diploma supplement or an official statement confirming that the programme of study was conducted in English must be submitted.

2. Preparatory course certificate
A certificate confirming completion of a preparatory course lasting at least 9 months at B2, C1, or C2 level.

3. International language certificates

B2 Business Vantage (BEC Vantage)
C1 Business Higher
Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT)

IELTS (Cambridge / British Council / IDP IELTS Australia)
IELTS – minimum 5.5 score

Trinity College London
ESOL Skills for Life – Level 1 (B2) or higher
Integrated Skills in English (ISE) – ISE II or higher
ISE Digital – above 80 points (B2)

Educational Testing Service (ETS)
TOEFL iBT – minimum 72 points

TOEIC
Listening & Reading – minimum 785 points
Speaking – minimum 150 points
Writing – minimum 160 points

Pearson Assessment English
Pearson English International Certificate (paper-based or computer-based) – Level 3 or higher
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) – minimum 59 points

Note: This exam is also administered by VIZJA University.
