NAWA Diploma Recognition – What You Need to Know

We would like to inform you that as of 1 July 2025, new regulations regarding the recognition of foreign education documents have come into force in the Republic of Poland.

According to these changes, NAWA (Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej) has been designated as the sole authorized state institution responsible for issuing official decisions on the recognition of higher education diplomas and secondary school certificates obtained abroad. The recognition procedure is carried out through NAWA’s official SYRENA online application system, and all applications are submitted entirely online.

Required documents:

(for applicants applying for a Bachelor’s degree)
1. International passport
2. Scanned color copy of the original 11th grade secondary school certificate together with its certified translation
3. Scanned color copy of the original 9th grade secondary school certificate together with its certified translation
4. Document confirming a change of name or surname (e.g. marriage certificate, court decision, etc.), if applicable
5. Consent for independent application submission by a minor (parental authorization - (Valideyn icazəsi 

(for applicants applying for a Master’s degree):
1. International passport
2. Scanned color copy of the original Bachelor’s diploma and its supplement together with certified translations
3. Scanned color copy of the original 11th grade secondary school certificate together with its certified translation
4. Document confirming a change of name or surname (e.g. marriage certificate, court decision, etc.), if applicable.

All documents must be submitted in PDF or JPG format, with a maximum file size of 3 MB per document. The NAWA recognition decision is usually issued within up to 60 days after the complete set of documents has been submitted; however, in some cases this period may be extended. Applicants are strongly advised to submit their applications in a timely manner to avoid delays in the admission and visa processes.

Note: Applicants wishing to study in Poland whose education documents were issued in the countries listed in the relevant table are required to apply to NAWA for diploma recognition
